How often should my dog be groomed?
Most dogs benefit from professional grooming every 6–8 weeks, although this varies depending on breed, coat type and lifestyle.
What happens during my dog's first visit?
We take time to get to know your dog and your grooming preferences. We help your dog settle, carry out a health and coat check, discuss your requirements and complete the groom at a pace that keeps your dog comfortable.
Do you groom puppies?
Yes. Puppy introduction appointments are designed to create a positive first experience and help puppies become confident with grooming.
Do I need to walk my dog before the appointment?
Yes. A short walk allows your dog to go to the toilet and arrive feeling more relaxed.
What if my dog is nervous?
Many dogs are nervous initially. We use calm, patient handling and never rush appointments.
What if my dog has matted fur?
If the coat is heavily matted, clipping may be the safest and kindest option. We will always discuss this with you where possible.
Can you trim my dog's nails?
Yes, nail trimming is available as part of a groom or as a standalone service where appropriate.
Do you groom elderly dogs?
Absolutely. Senior dogs receive extra care, comfort breaks and only the grooming they can comfortably tolerate. We have an electric lifting bath and grooming table so senior dogs do not need to jump or be lifted during their time with us.
Do you groom anxious or rescue dogs?
Yes. Every dog is treated as an individual and appointments are adapted to suit their needs.
What products do you use?
We use professional-quality grooming shampoos and products suitable for dogs. If your dog has sensitive skin, please let us know.
Do you express anal glands?
No. We recommend this procedure is carried out by your veterinary practice where clinically appropriate.
What if my dog has fleas?
Please let us know before your appointment. If fleas are discovered during grooming, additional cleaning charges may apply.
How long does a groom take?
Most appointments take between 1 and 3 hours depending on the size of your dog, coat condition and services required.
Can I stay while my dog is groomed?
To help dogs remain calm and settled, owners are normally asked to leave during the appointment.
How do I book?
Appointments can be booked by WhatsApp, text, telephone or email.
Which areas do you cover?
The Canine Studio is based in Lower Parkstone (BH14 8PY) and focuses on welcoming dogs from Lower Parkstone, Lilliput, Canford Cliffs, Branksome Park, Sandbanks and the wider BH13, BH14 area — but all dogs from the BCP area are welcome.
Do you have parking?
Yes, convenient parking is available for customers.
Can you copy a previous haircut?
Yes. We keep grooming notes so we can maintain a consistent style where possible.
Do you take photographs?
With your permission, we love to photograph freshly groomed dogs for our website and social media.
